Fondant Daisies

I made these daisy cupcakes to cheer my friends up on a miserable, rainy day ... these were just a quick, one set of petals version as I didnt have a lot of time. But here is a different version that gives more realistic looking daisies

Things You'll Need
  • Fondant mat
  • Powdered sugar
  • Fondant
  • Rolling pin
  • 10-petal daisy cutter
  • Knife
  • Sealed container
  • Thin foam mat
  • Ball and veining tool
  • Plastic shaper
  • Paintbrush
  • Clear vanilla
  • Small circle cutter

Instructions

Sprinkle your fondant mat with a light coating of powdered sugar.
Knead the fondant until it becomes soft. Shape it into a ball. Place it in the center of the fondant mat.
Use a rolling pin to flatten the fondant until it's as thin as possible.
Cut out two blossoms for each fondant flower -- press firmly to get a clean cutout. Use a knife to gently remove excess fondant from the outer edges of the cutter. Place the pieces in your sealed container.
Remove one fondant cutout from the container. Place it on your foam mat. Run the veining edge of the tool from the center of a petal to its edge. Repeat this process on each petal. Place the daisy on a plastic shaper.

Remove another fondant cutout from the container. Repeat the veining process. Place the fondant on the plastic shaper.
Choose the blossom that looks the best. Attach it to the top of your other fondant piece using a paintbrush dipped in vanilla. Stagger the petals as you attach the blossoms. Place your daisy back into the shaper.
Roll out a small amount of fondant on the mat until it reaches the same thickness as your flower cutouts. Use your circle cutter to make the daisy's center.
Use the paintbrush dipped in vanilla to attach the circle to the daisy's center. Place it back into the shaper. Leave the flower in the shaper until you're ready to attach it to your cake.
